Responsive or adaptive web design (its acronym in English are RWD) is the set of design guidelines that allow the correct visualization of a web page from any device, be it a desktop computer, a laptop, a tablet, a mobile phone or even a connected watch.
We owe the term to the web designer Ethan Marcotte, who in 2010 published an article entitled Responsive Web Design in A List Apart and that changed the way of designing for the web, although the ultimate reason for its birth is in the generalization of the use of smart phones.
